Activities

Worship
Worship forms the energizing core of Shalom's faith and community life. The word of God is proclaimed through singing, preaching, sharing and prayer. Congregational participation for worship leaders, speakers, Bible readers, song leaders, musicians and visual artists is encouraged. Children are welcomed to participate fully in the worship life of the congregation.
Sunday School
Sunday school is informal and led by people of the congregation for all ages. Adult Progams are ad hoc and not always available. There are always opportunities for children and youth the learn and seek together.
Small Group Life
Small groups of all interest groups and all ages meet periodically and are open to all.
Service
We are aligned with service opportunities for all people and all agaes. A Mennonite Voluntary Service unit invites persons to Tucson to work with community-based service agencies. Participants in the Service Opportunities for Older People (SOOP) program are hosted in the winter months. Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona (CHRPA), an agency begun as a mission service project, provides emergency home repair to low income households. The Zuni Avenue Peace Center is a peace-building outreach to the neighborhood and beyond, with projects like a community garden, a bike club, carpentry program for girls called Girls With Tools, and food box distribution for low income people.

Mennonite Women
There are several activities specifically planned by and for women at Shalom. Shalom is a community that nurtures and supports women's gifts and skills in leadership. While there are many informal mentoring relationships, there are currently one women's study classes to promote spiritual growth through Bible study, book study, prayer, and fellowship. The class meets Sunday morning at 9:15 before worship service in the nursery. There is an online MSN GROUP created for Shalom Women. The goal of this online fellowship is to build relationships and networks of support through weekly emails, online discussion, and message boards. Anyone can join the online MSN group. Please email Carolyn Anderson for an invitation.
Colombia Sister Church
We maintain a close sister church relationship with Teasaquilio Mennonite Church in Bogota Colombia, walking as brothers and sisters through the challenges and joys of life. We work to raise our and others awareness of the challenges of life in Colomiba, the ongoing war in that country, and generally offer prayer and support for each other through visitation and community.
Project Hospitality
During two or three weeks of the winter, Shalom members staff a shelter at the church for people who are homeless, supplying a supper, breakfast and a bed to about 10 people per night. Project Hospitality is organized by the Salvation Army.
Other activities happen seasonally at all times. check the calendar for current information
